Navigating Uncertainty: Reflections This Easter Season

April 14, 2025

This time of year is often filled with reflection on renewal, on hope, and on the moments that challenge our belief in both.

Think of a time in history when expectations were high, momentum was building, and people were inspired to believe in something greater than themselves. Then, in a matter of days, everything seemed to fall apart. The excitement turned into confusion. Hope turned into grief. People were left asking: What now?  This was the story of the time between Jesus’ death and resurrection that some call “Dark Saturday”.

That “in-between” time—the day when the crowds had scattered, when the future was uncertain, when questions far outweighed answers—is often forgotten. But it’s in that quiet, somber space that the deepest doubts emerge... and where the most powerful transformations begin.

It’s not unlike what many people are feeling now. With the markets in flux and economic headlines swirling, it can feel like we’re stuck in our own kind of “dark Saturday.” We wonder if we made the right financial decisions. We question what’s next. We may even feel paralyzed by the unknown.

But as history shows us, the quietest days often come just before a breakthrough. The darkest moments can precede clarity. Sometimes we just don’t know what’s unfolding behind the scenes. But that doesn’t mean hope is lost.

In uncertain times, it’s important to pause, reflect, and stay grounded. Your financial journey, like life itself, will include moments of stillness and doubt—but also seasons of growth, redemption, and renewal.

As we move through this season of reflection, my hope for you is peace, perspective, and the reassurance that better days are ahead.

I’m certain that we are all familiar with the story of Palm Sunday - Jesus triumphantly riding into Jerusalem on a donkey, people bowing down, waving palm branches and yelling HOSANNA!

Then throughout the week there was the Last Supper, the washing of feet, the kiss of betrayal from Judas, the denials from Peter, finally the arrest and condemnation of our Jesus.

We know what happened on Good Friday - the undeserved scourging, the mocking, the crown of thorns, the cross, the suffering and of course the crucifixion.

And thankfully we know the Truth in Resurrection Sunday - the stone that was rolled away, the empty tomb, and the crumpled burial cloths.

But what do we know about the day between the Crucifixion on Friday and the Resurrection on Sunday?

What was happening on this particular Saturday?  I can only imagine Mary opening her eyes that morning to face the reality of the impending burial of her Beloved son.

What about the disciples? They believed Him. He was supposed to be the Messiah. They drank the Kool-Aid and left everything they had known to follow Him.

Can you fathom the despair, the hopelessness and all the questions? What next? How do they even begin to start over?  What are they going to believe in now? I can only imagine how long and dark this Saturday was.

No doubt, we have all put our hope into something or someone only to have that hope shattered. We begin to question ourselves, our actions, our sanity, our ignorance. Why did I make that decision? Why did I choose to follow HIM? What do I do now?

I'm sure that Dark Saturday was quiet in Jerusalem. People probably didn't have much to say. Certainly, this was a day of silent disbelief, grief, shock and agony.

But oh, how that hopelessness would soon be turned into encouragement, how despair would be transformed into joy. The sorrow and sadness would suddenly become relief and happiness.

They didn't know HIS plan; they didn't know that death had just been defeated. They didn't know HE descended to overcome evil. They didn't know that redemption was drawing near. They didn't know!

So many times, all we see is the darkness of the day, we fall into despair, we feel hopeless because we cannot see that stone being rolled away. We cannot begin to fathom the good that HE has planned even as soon as the very next day. We may not know...but HE does!

We must never give up hope, trust, or the belief that our GOD moves mountains, HE tears curtains, HE rolls stones, HE conquers death, HE defeats the enemy, HE saves souls, HE redeems sinners, HE loves unconditionally and most assuredly...HE LIVES!!

My prayer is that each of you comes to know and believe in this Truth. May it bring peace and hope into your heart.

Wishing you all a beautiful and blessed Easter.
